Australian Sharlea wool producers are highly recognised globally for
their ability to produce the most unique, elite natural wool fibre in the
world.
Sharlea wool producers dedication and passion to the industry has been
rewarded by success with sales to prominent world renowned mills such as
Loro Piana and Fontinella in Italy, Cheil in Korea, Toyobo in Japan and
many others.
The aim of the Sharlea Ultra Fine Society of Australia is to:
- maintain the market for Sharlea Ultra Fine Wool
through promotion and marketing;
- gain stronger communication links with mills;
- source information in the development of new
wool-blend products enabling information to be understood and acted
upon.
The Sharlea Society has access to expertise in areas of technical
support through Australia Wool Innovation and also fibre testing knowledge
through the Australian Wool Testing Authorities.
Other objectives are to:
- maintain a quality standard for Sharlea Ultra Fine
Fibre throughout Australia;
- maintain and improve production of Sharlea Ultra
Fine Wool
and Sharlea Ultra Fine Fibre producing sheep;
- market and conduct exhibition sales;
- conduct research into and disseminate information
collected in relation to the production and marketing of Sharlea Ultra
Fine Fibre.
